FINALS!!!

It's getting so close to the end of the semester and I am sure everyone is just as excited as I am!! I have had a great semester this Fall and I loved all my classes. (Especially this one.) I cannot wait until I can get rid of this semesters hefty book load though and exchange them for my Spring classes. It is so crazy how quickly this Fall has flown by. I cannot speak for everyone, but as for myself I feel like this semester just started. I am also very excited at how all my grades have turned out. I shocked myself with my perseverance to keep up with everything! Anyway, good luck on all your upcoming finals and have a wonderful Christmas break!! :)

When Things Get Rough

Lately, things at home haven't been the easiest to handle. Even with the holiday I just haven't been feeling like myself lately. I seem to not be happy with my home life and my relationships with friends and loved ones and even myself. I feel like I am loosing my grasp on everything. For example I have been working hard to be mentally prepared to work off a few pounds, but I feel incredibly HUGE lately and I hate everything I wear, because it feels like I am squeezing into it. I also haven't been able to control my mouth, I will freak out and yell at even the slightest upset. I am stressed out from being a poor college student all the time, and I feel like there isn't many of my friends who can relate to me right now. Maybe its just the seasons changing and lack of sunlight that is driving bonkers or maybe I really am hitting a slump. Comment below and let me know how you handle stress and upsets in life. Maybe we can help each other! :)

Quinn!

I love the holidays and this year I wanted to do something really special for my puppy Quinns' first Christmas. I planned on getting her new bones, treats, and a few toys, but I just wasn't convinced that any of that was going to be fun or exciting enough for her. (I know, she is a dog, but I spoil her.) So anyway I decided to take to Pinterest and find something more exciting. Once I got on Pinterest it took about 5 minutes to figure it out. Instead of buying her a bunch of expensive holiday treats I have decided to make her homemade treats with all her favorite ingredients!

The link above took me to a recipe where I could learn to bake special treats and even substitute some ingredients out for others. I cannot wait to try this out. And I may even post pictures of my completed ones once I finish them. I have also decided to make these treats for the rest of my family and their puppies since we all have so many four legged babies running around its only fair. I have started work on the gift baggies and baskets that I will display them in as well. Hobby Lobby has been my savior, these last few days. :) I love the holidays!!

Comment below on cool homemade gifts you have given or received throughout the years, I would love to get some more awesome ideas!!

Smile Like There Is No Tommorow!!

Recently I have encountered a rather unpleasant dilemma. I am sure many other have dealt with the as well, but it was a rather new experience for me. I went to a birthday party this past weekend, it was my friends' friend, but what I didn't know was that the girls whose birthday it was just recently started dating my ex. Blah blah blah right I am sure this has happened before, but it was a rather unusual situation, because
1. the girl is significantly younger, skimming the age of illegal for him
2. we had a horrible break up
3. up until three weeks ago he was showing up at my work trying to apologize for everything
4. right before the party she added me on Facebook and I saw all her pictures of him and her together also with the dog I bought him.

All being said I am not jealous of them, because I know I made the right decision when I decided to leave, but it still stings a bit. The poor girl has no idea the history between us and I am not going to say anything, but it also make me worry a little for her. Anyways my advice for anyone in that situation is just to smile and be a mature lady. There is no reason be nasty to one another and possibly ruin the evening, and no matter how upset it makes you, nothing good comes from overreacting. Comment below and tell me your advice.. :)

ELECTION DAY

Today is election day!! WHOOOOO!! I don't know about you, but I sure am excited! Now I know a lot of people didn't register to vote today and I'm sure even more people don't agree with who I voted for, but none of that matters. What does matter is that no matter what, you exercise your American right to vote and let your voice be heard. I will say that in each candidate this year I found many things I didn't agree with, but that doesn't change my opinion that you should still vote. In order to get over all the things I didn't agree with in each candidate my friends mom sat down with us and told us not to worry about petty things that they may stand for, because in order for them to change whatever it may be it will have to pass through Congress first. We need to focus on rebuilding our country and you need to vote for the candidate whom you see doing just that. Without every ones vote, is how we end up with a president or a bill passing that our general public disagrees with. SO GO OUT AND VOTE!! :)

CREATIVE ORGANIZING!!!

I LOVE to craft and I LOVE to organize so I was ecstatic when I found this idea. I recently just moved into a new home with a few friends and my very first thought is I have to do this to organize our bills in a cute way! This is so simple to make as well. All it is, is a large thin cork board that you can find at any hobby lobby store. Then take a ruler and measure out the weeks and days then use a permanent marker or even your favorite ribbon to define the lines. Then simple either use crafting letters or printer paper to determine the month and date number each month. Then when an event pops up or a bills comes up you can simply post it on the calendar for everyone to be notified. It also adds as a cute decor and keep let everyone in the home know what may be going on on certain days with another roommate for example a Scentsy Party!! ;)

Portions on Thanksgiving?! Who Knew?!?

I have a huge problem with portion control especially around the holidays. Everything looks, smells and tastes so great that it's hard to know your limits. My down fall for the Fall season is pumpkin pie! I love it so much!! So while looking through new recipes for the holidays I came across a really great idea for helping you control your intake during this delicous holiday season. Since my problem is pumpkin pie I decided to use this as an example, but you can do this with almost any dessert, and if you really want to watch how much you eat, then you can use this as a measurement to eyeball how much you need on your plate. Instead of making a pie where you can easily eat too much depending on the size of your piece, you should make cupcake versions! It is much easier to control how many cupcakes you eat because they all have a standard size and the left over cupcake wrappers is a perfect indication of how many cupcakes you just stuffed down. It also helps because you don't have any carbs from the crust to worry about. Use the link below to find the recipes.

Winter Wonders

Ever wonder why people always have a Summer fling and rarely a Winter fling? Well I think I may have an answer. During the Summer people get more sunlight which releases vitamins into their skin promoting more energy and a happier persona, but that not all. There seems to be so much more to the circumstances so let's take a look.
1. People look better typically, because they have spent all of spring working out.
2. Less clothing!! Let's be honest short shorts and bikinis are everywhere.
3. more out door activities.
4. Younger people have more time because there is no school (Us adult are screwed.)
5. In winter more people stay in because of the cold weather.
6. Winter brings lots of viruses.
7. Winter has less outdoor activities. (Going out to places costs more)
and many more.

Here are a few helpful tips on ideas to make those Summer flings last.
1. Bundle up and play in the snow!!!
2. Host am ugly Christmas sweater party.
3. rent movies and drink hot chocolate
4. take cooking classes together
5. take on a house project together!
6. give space (don't sit inside everyday with only each other, most summer flings aren't ready for that kind of seclusion yet)
7. start a workout program together and it will help keep off those dreadful winter pounds
8. have a game night with friends
9. take a trip to go ice skating

You Won't Be Single For Long

Following up with my last blog post about eating right I wanted to post something a little more light heated, but something that was relevant! So this is what I came up with.... Rachel Ray is a wonderful cook and although my favorite cook is Paula Dean, she isn't the best way to keep up with your bangin' bod! My favorite recipe from Rachel Ray is her Vodka Cream Pasta!! In this pasta there is only 20 calories in the sauce and 280 is the pasta itself, now this may seem like a lot, but this is also talking about the whole meal and as any healthy person knows its all about your portion size! (That is how Jenny Craig and Sensa and many other diet programs work.) I thought it would be fun to post a great recipe that is easy to make and tastes so great that no man would know it falls into a "healthy" pasta category. I have found that the hardest way to continue successfully on a diet is when you have to cook for a man as well, because they want something yummy not something healthy! So here is the recipe! JUST CLICK THE PICTURE!

Here is the link to the calorie information I found. NUTRITIONAL FACTS!!

Winter Wear

Well, It looks like it is going to be an early winter this year! Unfortunately we aren't going to be as lucky as we were last year and hardly have a winter at all. With that being said I wanted to go ahead and give some tips on how to be warm throughout the cold and avoid looking like a snow man! Of course in winter we all want to be warm and comfortable, but there are ways to still be work presentable without wearing heels and panty hose and freezing ALL day.

All pictures are from pinterest.

Instead of wearing jeans or leggings everyday try to wear colored skinny jeans to make an ordinary outfit stand out! There is nothing wrong with some color in the winter months.

Gloves are a must in winter. Nothing is worse than gettting snow and ice on your fingers while scraping you windows or opening your car door. Also start looking for gloves that are compatible with touch screen phones!!

Scarves are very in and useful right now. I have found the scarves that are the most warm during winter months are the think knit infinity scarves. You can drap them around you or layer them up to cover your whole neck. It's up to you!

Hats are so over looked within style for women. Grab a knit hat and try it out! You may just fall in love!

This is a knit skirt that can be paired with boots and panty hose or warm/thick leggings. This skirt can add style, but because it is made of warm thick fabrics it will also help keep heat in.

This is a cute style that can be worn anywhere. This look demonstrates the power of layers, not only will you e warm; you look professional and ready to tackle the day ahead!

I personally love this look becasue she looks polished, while staying warm. Her color choices are also great because they are timeless. You can never go wrong with cream, brown, and black.

I wanted to show this because a lot of winter styles are with leggings or jeans. This is an example of floor lengths skirts (or you can use a maxi dress with a jacket) and boots. It's something a lot of people don't try, but I truly think they should.

BOOTS! BOOTS! BOOTS! You can never go wrong with a tall pair of boots Too complete this look add some leggings or just make your own by cutting an old sweaters' sleeves off. It adds style and depth to the look.

This is the classic and ever comfortable look of boots leggings and an oversized sweatshirt. To dress this up you can add a small belt around the sweater and keep your hair down maybe big wavy curls. (and try adding the leggings to the look) :)

Short Hair Requests

I was going through comments on my last posts and saw that both of you wanted to see styles for shorter hair. Now let me say that it was very difficult to find videos that had multiple hair styles on them, and I didn't want to link a bunch of videos on one post so I found this one that is pretty simple. I honestly would have made my own video for this because I love doing hair and I used to have hair just like the girl in the video, but I recently started growing my hair out and now its past my shoulders. (TIP: If you ever want to grow your hair out quickly all you need is a bottle of Biotin, it works wonders.) I hope this helps, maybe in the future I will find better styles and repost this!

"Sock bun"

Over the weekend, I was with a few friends getting ready to watch the UFC fights and I was in need of a cute, but simple hair style. I decided to log in to my pinterest account and see what I could find. Then I found the "sock bun". It is a rendition of the "ballerina bun", yet larger and a little more casual. I wanted to share this because it is absolutely perfect when you are in a rush, yet it looks elegant and can be made more dressy for work or casual for going out and trying to keep your hair out of your face.

Step 1: Take a long sock and cut just the toe part off.

Step 2: Roll the sock tightly into a bagel/doughnut shape.

Step 3: Tie your hair into a pony tail directly in the center of your head. (the height of the bun is up to your discretion)

Step 4: Take the sock and pull the tip of your pony tail through the center.

Step 5: Slowly roll the sock down your pony tail while your hair follows.

Step 6: Once at the base of your pony tail, bobby pin the bun in place and spray with hairspray.

Thinsporation: Positive Reinforcement or Negative?

I was reading an article the other day and it was discussing the imminent problem arising within the US. What could it have been? OBESITY. Of course people are still frantic about the continuously rising weight of average Americans today, because it is still very detrimental. But I on the other hand have come across some equally scary eating habits. A friend of mine introduced me to a blog on Tumblr called Thinsporation. The blog is open to everyone so people post and share their stories and pictures for everyone to see. Now I love to be healthy and eat right and work out, so I normally get meal plans ans work outs from Pinterest, but apparently this blog has been spreading like wild fire to help "end" obesity. As I scrolled through this blog it became apparent to me that this was not a site to teach young girls to be healthy, but more of a destructive site to give you tips on how to starve yourself and the pictures are of anorexic models and dancers as inspiration. I realize we need to get help as a country to end obesity, but are we putting to much pressure on young adults to be "healthy" and "thin" that it is acceptable to promote anorexia and bulimia?

Keeping It Classy

I have been noticing more and more that people of all ages have lost the connection from the Internet and real life. Now I know that statement can mean many things, but what I am talking about, I am sure EVERYONE can agree they have seen it as well.

Have you ever logged into you Facebook or Twitter account and saw a post someone put up and your immediate thought was "who in the world would post that for everyone to see?!?" Well I most definately have! Over the past weekend I saw a picture that I thought I would never see pop up on my news feed. Then it happened. BOOM!! A Facebook friend of mine posted a picture of herself with only her panties on and her boyfriend standing behind her covering her breasts with his hands. I couldn't believe she was so comfortable with plastering her almost naked body all over the internet for all to see. To make matters worse she is a new mother! I understand that Facebook is ours to control and so we see it as our private site to post whatever we feel, but people need to remember that although we can control what is posted and who sees it (to some extent), we cannot control what someone else does with it. It is easy to share other peoples picture and take screen shots of almost anything now to spread it farther across the internet. Who knows it could also become the tope picture of you on a Google search if you type in your name. No one controls where things on the internet end up so its dangerous to think of the internet as a dumping ground for your entire life and all your feelings. Remember on the other side of that computer screen is another person looking at everything you post. Don't post anything you wouldn't want you grandmother, or future children to see!

Nights in the City, Melting Pot Style

This Google Map is of the area where the restaurant, Melting Pot, is located. I wanted to post this map, because over the past weekend I had the pleasure of eating there for the first time with my family and it was amazing! I loved every minute of it. The food was delicious and the restaurant itself was very nice. I decided to share this with everyone because I thought it would be helpful information when deciding on a place to go for an anniversary or even a small date. Who knows it may also become a favorite birthday spot. It's always nice to share experiences with other so I figured this was a great opportunity and I really would recommend it to anyone celebrating something, or even just wanting a romantic night in the city. :) P.S. If any of you do go in the near future don't be afraid to comment and tell me how is was and if you liked it!!

Fun & Flirty

I wanted to make this post as well as the one about hair, because I know make-up is a very popular search for YouTube videos. I also thought it would go along with the back to school theme I had last week. I chose this specific video because I think you can be girly and beautiful without caking on make-up especially when we all are still young and have youthful beauty. I know everyone wants to look older, but I feel that the less make-up you wear the more natural you look which shows true beauty, and I think its important for young girls everywhere to remember that. This is a simple, quick look that focuses more towards using light make-up and trying to emphasize the natural features of girls. For example the woman in the video uses white eyeliner to simply make her eyes look more awake and draws you to them. She also doesn't use heavy foundations to make her look tanner. (if you don't need foundation, don't use it!! It only adds to acne!!)

Sleek in Seconds

This week I wanted to show a girlier side to the blog so I decided to post about quick and easy hair styles to do for school. We all hate waking up super early for anything especially to do your hair and make-up, so in the video is 5 easy, heatless hair styles that you can quickly throw together before class. I chose this particular video, because it included multiple styles that are all simple but add a classier touch than just a volumous pony tail. These styles also work on pretty much any hair type which is a plus. I hope you enjoy!! :)

Finding Your Inner Independence

Lets face it, we have all been in, or at some point will be in, a relationship where we find ourselves clinging to someone who really doesn't deserve us. So how do you escape?
Well, unfortunately it takes time, and lots of it! The best way to get back on your feet is to find something that makes you happy. Not something like sitting around and watching your favorite t.v. show, because it makes you laugh, but something that triggers your passion. It should be something that takes up time in your life and while your doing it you don't even think about that "person".  The more you throw yourself into something that makes you happy, the more you are proving to yourself that you don't need to be stuck in a relationship that doesn't make you feel the exact same way. If you can go out and do things independently then why do you think you need to be so codependent in a relationship? A huge factor in breaking free is letting that "person" see that you are slowly disassociating yourself. There is nothing worse than blind siding someone with a break-up no matter what the relationship is like. They will probably try to win you back by saying all the right things, but do NOT get caught up in it all again. We all know they can say anything in the moment, but as soon as you show a little interest again its back to the same old problems you had before. Surround yourself with positivity and lots of laughs. Soon you will notice that while your out having fun and they are blowing up your phone trying to apologize that it doesn't even matter to you and you no longer would rather spend your time trying to argue and figure things out when you could be enjoying yourself. Finally you are finding your indepedence again! The most important step in all this is to take your time with your happiness. You don't want to find all this bliss and indepedence and then jump right back into a new relationship that can pull you back down. You need time for yourself.
