Winter Wonders

Ever wonder why people always have a Summer fling and rarely a Winter fling? Well I think I may have an answer. During the Summer people get more sunlight which releases vitamins into their skin promoting more energy and a happier persona, but that not all. There seems to be so much more to the circumstances so let's take a look.
1. People look better typically, because they have spent all of spring working out.
2. Less clothing!! Let's be honest short shorts and bikinis are everywhere.
3. more out door activities.
4. Younger people have more time because there is no school (Us adult are screwed.)
5. In winter more people stay in because of the cold weather.
6. Winter brings lots of viruses.
7. Winter has less outdoor activities. (Going out to places costs more)
and many more.

Here are a few helpful tips on ideas to make those Summer flings last.
1. Bundle up and play in the snow!!!
2. Host am ugly Christmas sweater party.
3. rent movies and drink hot chocolate
4. take cooking classes together
5. take on a house project together!
6. give space (don't sit inside everyday with only each other, most summer flings aren't ready for that kind of seclusion yet)
7. start a workout program together and it will help keep off those dreadful winter pounds
8. have a game night with friends
9. take a trip to go ice skating

You Won't Be Single For Long

Following up with my last blog post about eating right I wanted to post something a little more light heated, but something that was relevant! So this is what I came up with.... Rachel Ray is a wonderful cook and although my favorite cook is Paula Dean, she isn't the best way to keep up with your bangin' bod! My favorite recipe from Rachel Ray is her Vodka Cream Pasta!! In this pasta there is only 20 calories in the sauce and 280 is the pasta itself, now this may seem like a lot, but this is also talking about the whole meal and as any healthy person knows its all about your portion size! (That is how Jenny Craig and Sensa and many other diet programs work.) I thought it would be fun to post a great recipe that is easy to make and tastes so great that no man would know it falls into a "healthy" pasta category. I have found that the hardest way to continue successfully on a diet is when you have to cook for a man as well, because they want something yummy not something healthy! So here is the recipe! JUST CLICK THE PICTURE!

Here is the link to the calorie information I found. NUTRITIONAL FACTS!!

Winter Wear

Well, It looks like it is going to be an early winter this year! Unfortunately we aren't going to be as lucky as we were last year and hardly have a winter at all. With that being said I wanted to go ahead and give some tips on how to be warm throughout the cold and avoid looking like a snow man! Of course in winter we all want to be warm and comfortable, but there are ways to still be work presentable without wearing heels and panty hose and freezing ALL day.

All pictures are from pinterest.

Instead of wearing jeans or leggings everyday try to wear colored skinny jeans to make an ordinary outfit stand out! There is nothing wrong with some color in the winter months.

Gloves are a must in winter. Nothing is worse than gettting snow and ice on your fingers while scraping you windows or opening your car door. Also start looking for gloves that are compatible with touch screen phones!!

Scarves are very in and useful right now. I have found the scarves that are the most warm during winter months are the think knit infinity scarves. You can drap them around you or layer them up to cover your whole neck. It's up to you!

Hats are so over looked within style for women. Grab a knit hat and try it out! You may just fall in love!

This is a knit skirt that can be paired with boots and panty hose or warm/thick leggings. This skirt can add style, but because it is made of warm thick fabrics it will also help keep heat in.

This is a cute style that can be worn anywhere. This look demonstrates the power of layers, not only will you e warm; you look professional and ready to tackle the day ahead!

I personally love this look becasue she looks polished, while staying warm. Her color choices are also great because they are timeless. You can never go wrong with cream, brown, and black.

I wanted to show this because a lot of winter styles are with leggings or jeans. This is an example of floor lengths skirts (or you can use a maxi dress with a jacket) and boots. It's something a lot of people don't try, but I truly think they should.

BOOTS! BOOTS! BOOTS! You can never go wrong with a tall pair of boots Too complete this look add some leggings or just make your own by cutting an old sweaters' sleeves off. It adds style and depth to the look.

This is the classic and ever comfortable look of boots leggings and an oversized sweatshirt. To dress this up you can add a small belt around the sweater and keep your hair down maybe big wavy curls. (and try adding the leggings to the look) :)

Short Hair Requests

I was going through comments on my last posts and saw that both of you wanted to see styles for shorter hair. Now let me say that it was very difficult to find videos that had multiple hair styles on them, and I didn't want to link a bunch of videos on one post so I found this one that is pretty simple. I honestly would have made my own video for this because I love doing hair and I used to have hair just like the girl in the video, but I recently started growing my hair out and now its past my shoulders. (TIP: If you ever want to grow your hair out quickly all you need is a bottle of Biotin, it works wonders.) I hope this helps, maybe in the future I will find better styles and repost this!

"Sock bun"

Over the weekend, I was with a few friends getting ready to watch the UFC fights and I was in need of a cute, but simple hair style. I decided to log in to my pinterest account and see what I could find. Then I found the "sock bun". It is a rendition of the "ballerina bun", yet larger and a little more casual. I wanted to share this because it is absolutely perfect when you are in a rush, yet it looks elegant and can be made more dressy for work or casual for going out and trying to keep your hair out of your face.

Step 1: Take a long sock and cut just the toe part off.

Step 2: Roll the sock tightly into a bagel/doughnut shape.

Step 3: Tie your hair into a pony tail directly in the center of your head. (the height of the bun is up to your discretion)

Step 4: Take the sock and pull the tip of your pony tail through the center.

Step 5: Slowly roll the sock down your pony tail while your hair follows.

Step 6: Once at the base of your pony tail, bobby pin the bun in place and spray with hairspray.

Thinsporation: Positive Reinforcement or Negative?

I was reading an article the other day and it was discussing the imminent problem arising within the US. What could it have been? OBESITY. Of course people are still frantic about the continuously rising weight of average Americans today, because it is still very detrimental. But I on the other hand have come across some equally scary eating habits. A friend of mine introduced me to a blog on Tumblr called Thinsporation. The blog is open to everyone so people post and share their stories and pictures for everyone to see. Now I love to be healthy and eat right and work out, so I normally get meal plans ans work outs from Pinterest, but apparently this blog has been spreading like wild fire to help "end" obesity. As I scrolled through this blog it became apparent to me that this was not a site to teach young girls to be healthy, but more of a destructive site to give you tips on how to starve yourself and the pictures are of anorexic models and dancers as inspiration. I realize we need to get help as a country to end obesity, but are we putting to much pressure on young adults to be "healthy" and "thin" that it is acceptable to promote anorexia and bulimia?
